Evan Nowell (per/they/them) is a communications executive with over a decade of experience engaging diverse teams, organizations, and communities around the most pressing economic, cultural, and social issues of our time.

Since founding The Nowell Group in 2017, Evan has advised local, national, and international clients including Ashley Peele, the city of North Charleston’s first LGBTQ+ candidate for Mayor.

Evan previously served as the Director of Public & Media Relations at the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), where per promoted the organization’s work to defend and advance civil rights—centering communities of color, immigrant communities, and LGBTQ+ communities. Prior to the SPLC, they served as a Senior Director at RF|Binder, a New York-based PR agency, and Assistant Director of Media Relations at Columbia Business School.

Evan holds a Master's in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution from Columbia University and a Bachelor's in Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business.
